As a graduate of the National School of Architecture and Urban Planning Samia did what she was supposed to do and started a small architecture office in Tunis. However, she had a dream, and she wanted take her talent to the next level. Samia decided to take part in EFE-Tunisie’s Build Your Business training in collaboration with the Souk Ettanmia project. Thanks to the EFE-Tunisie and Souk Ettanmia’s collaboration she was given a loan that would allow her to produce her goods locally. Through this opportunity, Samia was able to develop several partnerships with Tunisian suppliers. She also benefited from EFE setting her up with a supportive mentor in New York. Now, Samia has a growing accessories business, Architect with Artisan. She recently opened a shop in Tunis to showcase her beautiful and unique work. Eventually, Samia hopes to expand her network, prove her art’s influence and products’ quality, develop a local brand and raise money to take her work on an international tour. Samia always knew she was meant to be an entrepreneur and being part of the decision-making process. “I like it when my employees look up to me and see me as an inspiration. Such feeling gives me hope and courage to continue my journey as a female entrepreneur.” Samia has expressed her gratitude towards the skills she learned during the EFE-Tunisie training. “The BYB training was a great opportunity for me to get ready for negotiations with the bankers, preparing a solid business plan, and developing my communication skills, especially with the clients.” Lastly, Samia expresses her deepest gratitude towards her husband, who has always been supportive despite the hardships.
