On 20 June 2019, franchising expert Professor Hachemi Aliouch cited EFE as a model for successful social franchising in his Forbes column "Africa in Need of New Solutions: Social Entrepreneurship and Franchising to the Rescue." Drawing on research from the Global Social Franchising Index, the article makes the case that social franchising is an important approach to economic development in countries with large populations and low levels of citizen well-being.
