Elham
’s story

Elham is a 39 year old Jordanian who lives in Amman and is a mother of 3 children. Elham loves cooking and has already started making homemade pastries and traditional sweets and selling them upon orders. Elham once found out about the Food Processing training program through social media. She decided to apply to learn more about cooking, improve her quality of food, and market her business. This program is funded by EFE-Jordan and sponsored by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) through funding from the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO). “It was challenging at first, then it became so motivating and encouraging”. As she joined, Elham started gaining the needed skills to prepare recipes for new dishes, salads, and ingredients. The training introduced her to new cooking techniques and how to select suitable spices, in addition to how to package the meals in a very neat and attractive way. Elham has also learned how to promote her homemade meals through social media and what are the steps to launch a business account and how to use it as a platform to display her products. “My dream is to expand my business and be able to provide catering services to companies and events. I believe that there are no limits for the people’s ambitions and this is only the beginning of a long journey” She is now in the process of issuing the required permits to start her home-based kitchen.
