EFE Awarded Arab Gulf Development Fund Prize

Education For Employment (EFE) was awarded by the Arab Gulf Development Fund (AGFUND) the first prize for the most innovative project in support of youth unemployment in developing countries at a ceremony presided over by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.

The award recognizes “Programming for the Future,” a project EFE implemented thanks to the support of Accenture.  This project enabled youth with limited opportunities to learn the 21st century IT skills crucial to securing a job and building a career.  Through the AGFUND prize, EFE will expand such youth employment activities in Saudi Arabia.

EFE-Global Vice President Salvatore Nigro accepted the award on behalf of EFE at a ceremony on April 20th at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). The event attracted over 350 high-level international dignitaries, including, among others, Kelly Clements, UN Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees and Clemens Adams, Director of UNOG Administration Division.

The AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering Human Development Projects was established in 1999 with the aim of encouraging innovation and creativity in the areas of human development.  It is supervised by an international committee of renowned international personalities, including Her Majesty the Queen Sofía of Spain; Professor Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank, Chairman of the Yunus Centre and Noble Peace Prize Laureate; Dr. Y. SeyyidAbdulai, former Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID); Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali, former President of the Islamic Development Bank Group; and Mrs. Mercedes Menafra de Batlle, former First Lady of Uruguay.

EFE wishes to thank Accenture for its continuous support.
