“Gear Up!: Greening the Economy of Algeria through Realising & Unlocking Youth’s Potential”, Alstom Foundation, Algeria

EFE-Europe is implementing the “Gear UP!” project in Algeria with support from the Alstom Foundation to directly improve the socio-economic inclusion and livelihoods of 195 disadvantaged, vulnerable young Algerians through a market-driven, blended learning approach providing tailored trainings in highly-demanded digital, soft and technical skills linked to current and emerging opportunities offered, inter alia, by the green economy.

To date, the project has connected over 191 youth, 65% of which are women, to the world of work. Of these, 111 youth improved their digital literacy and employability through EFE’s online trainings, and 80 youth improved their soft skills and knowledge about waste management through in-class, waste-management-focused JTP classes. To date, 55 youth have been directly placed in jobs following graduation from EFE’s trainings. In the coming weeks, project graduates will actively engage in volunteering activities organized by EFE to raise public awareness about the urgent need to adopt environmentally-friendly practices.
